El síndrome del gourmand es un síndrome raro y curioso que produce en el paciente un irreflenable deseo de comprar o cocinar alimentos exquisitos y platos muy sofisticados. La enfermedad fue descrita por primera vez por los investigadores M. Regard, y T. Landis en 1997 en la revista Neurology. Según un reciente estudio realizado en Suiza, este trastorno de la alimentación está causado por una lesión que afecta a ciertas zonas del hemisferio cerebral derecho.
